It’s Back to School Time!
With September rapidly approaching, the back to schools sales are everywhere! I get excited just walking into OfficeMax with all of the cool, chic folders and school accessories. As a young girl, I loved this time of year, and as a teacher I am equally excited about the freshness of a new school year. I have been anxiously awaiting (and dreading at the same time) the day my firstborn baby would begin school.
I dreamed of a fun filled trip to the store, with the school supply list in hand, grabbing all of the latest and cutest school supplies. As my baby girl will begin Kindergarten this year, my bubble was burst when we got the letter stating, Kindergarteners are not required to bring any school supplies to class. I guess that is ok, since I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that she will be leaving me! I can wait one more year for the school supply adventure. All of this excitement and back to school hype has got me thinking.
September is a good time to reevaluate my own professional development and learning opportunities. I have decided to make this my ‘back to school’ time as well. As business women we are often so busy with all of our million tasks, that we often let great development opportunities go by the wayside. I have set a goal to research and sign up for at least 1 conference and 1 professional development seminar for September. Knowing that I can grab some new, fun supplies is going to make my ‘back to school’ time even more exciting!
