The Secret To Me
By now I’m sure everyone has seen the movie The Secret. The first time I saw it, I was immediately changed. I finally internalized all the information I read and studied throughout the years. I finally realized that positive thinking wasn’t being Pollyanna and naïve. I was shocked to learn that I was programmed totally wrong if I ever wanted to become successful in life.
I wondered how anyone could ever think, “I can’t do this” given the amazing success stories that take place. I always felt like “everyone could do it but me”, or “if my parents were rich, I could have had more opportunities”, “if I was more talented I could”. This was all foolish thinking and I soon learned I had to be reprogrammed. Everyone thought I became obsessed with this movie. I had a Secret party, I have a big vision board, I only listened to the audio book and to all the mentors teachings. I read and re-read all the books on the laws of attraction. Most of the successful people have this attitude. They want something, so they go and get it. I never understood how they did it until I saw this movie. Of course my life isn’t perfect and I still don’t have that Gucci bag or millions of dollars, BUT, I feel happy and so much more in control and I have made so many things happen that might not have happened before The Secret. Since Christmas 2006, my life has changed dramatically and all for the better.

Hi I was unemployed in NYC for one year. I ventured out with what I have saved to Raleigh, NC after reading and hearing about all the opportunities. I have a nice one bedroom apt., all alone and I am still job hunting. The feedback I get more so in NY than in NC is that I have a jumpy background. All are explainable and background checks are good. Lately, my attitude is terrible. I get very depressed and I don't get much in the way of enjoyment since I am so self absorbed with this problem. Any suggestions on another approach?

Dear Magic Hands,
I agree with what you are saying and I have a book that you might really enjoy reading. It's called Change the Way You See Everything by Cramer and Wasiak. I loved it. The mantra of the book is: "Magnify the Best; Focus on the Next." The idea is to focus on asset-based thinking rather than deficit-based thinking.
Personally I didn't like the Secret. I found this book much more up-lifting and I recommend it to many of my clients.
Good luck!
Joan
