iPhone to the Rescue
I have been debating a blackberry or iPhone type device for a few months. I have weighed the pros and cons, and tried to decide if it would be worth the investment. Just before we boarded a plan for a week of Thanksgiving vacation, I stopped at the store and made the big purchase. It could not have come at a better time.
As I am the Multitasking Madre, who manages both a family and business, I am also the frazzled, forgetful mommy. The Thanksgiving vacation got off to a hectic start. I directed my husband to park in the wrong long term parking lot, which was further away and more expensive (go figure?). As we were already cutting it close with time, we frantically tried to load our assortment of bags, children, stroller, and car seats into the shuttle. With the shuttle loaded with passengers and everyone waiting for me, I rapidly grabbed some juice boxes from the front seat of my car, locked it, and boarded the bus. No sooner did we make it through security, did I realize that I had forgotten my briefcase in the car!
Now vacation time is vacation time, but when you are a small business owner, vacation time also means work time. I had planned to work while at my in-laws, but without my precious cargo, I was going to be lost. Thankfully I had my new iPhone.
After a few hours of downloading, I was up and running and ready for business. Not only did I forget my work materials in the long term parking lot, but I discovered that my mother in law no longer had internet connection at her home. I would have had a very long, frustrating week had I not had my new device. So thankfully, my vacation time was relaxing, but still productive work time. Somewhere between visiting with friends and relatives, eating lots and lots of Mexican food, I accomplished items off my To Do list and arrived home a bit less stressed than when I left.
