Is This Really Happening To Me?
Ok, I have to admit that before I had children, I would wonder…. how do their parents allow that, or how does something like that happen? Now that I have joined the ranks of parenthood, I am the one who is probably being critiqued or criticized by others. With my busy schedule of working from home and balancing the lives of my young children, I have had my share of crazy situations.
I own a language education company and we are very active in our local community. Often at my daughter’s school events or at various locations, parents will see me and want to talk about our program. Frequently I take registration from interested parent’s right on the spot, as I always have our program info and class lists accessible. Just this past week, I had an ‘is this really happening’ moment.
I was at my daughter's very first Daisy (pre-girl scouts) meeting w/ my toddler son in tow. Mind you it was only 45 minutes, so I thought I was safe in leaving the house w/o an extra pair of pants. I was so very wrong! Of course the room is filled with parents and we have a major accident. 5 minutes prior to me noticing the 'little problem', a group of parents approached me wanting information about signing up for my bilingual program. I was in the midst of giving my pitch and marketing up a storm, when I had to excuse myself to deal with my son. It was such a mess and I had zero back up, I had to walk out of the bathroom w/ my son wearing NOTHING but his shirt and shoes. Quickly I grabbed my daughter's pink jacket and tried to wrap it around his bare bottom with the hope of making a speedy exit. The parents were so interested in my program that they caught me as I was trying to escape and wanted more info and wanted to register right then and there! I was holding a half naked toddler w/ a pink jacket half covering his privates and I am taking registration for my winter session! I didn't want to turn business away and they were apparently not offended, so we just kept on doing business!
If that had been ‘pre children’ I may have wondered, how does a mom leave home without a spare pair of pants? Now, I so appreciate and empathize with the frazzled mom I see racing through a public location with a toddler in hand, most likely frantically searching for a restroom. Since my life now revolves around being a mom and business owner, I just try to roll with it, be flexible, creative, patient, and persistent.
Does anyone else have these crazy happenings?

Thank you for sharing this experience. As an entrepreneur and a mother of 3 girls, It feels good to laugh at those situations and be grateful for our ability to multi task with grace ( most of the time !!!). Sometimes it is quite crazy and some others time it is just perfect. I remember Coaching my clients on the phone for an hour with my baby napping in the sling or nursing throughout the session. What a blessing...
