On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!
On Your Mark Get Set… Go!
I felt like I was in a perpetual race last week. My family and I made our first journey to the land of Disney, and although it was magical, it was far from relaxing. From the moment we landed in Orlando, until the final bus shuttled us back to the airport, I had the anxious feeling that we were always racing.
Anyone who has ever experienced the incredible phenomen which is Disneyworld knows that it is not for the lackadaisical. After reading multitudes of travel planners, my husband and I thought we had our trip scheduled and organized. Little did we know that upon entering the magical kingdom, things easily could become unraveled. The gates opened and the flood of people literally took off running in all directions. We joined the groups of parents and children madly dashing for the Dumbo ride, or maybe it was to the “meet and greet the Princess” area, or maybe it was to get a Fast Pass for Splash Mountain. We quickly realized that if we wanted to make the most of our time there, we needed to join the race.
Each armed with a loaded backpack, 2 preschool age children and strollers, my husband would put on our running shoes and take off each day. Our relentless race enabled us to see fabulous shows, wait in minimal lines, ride the exciting rides, and take a few minutes here and there to snap some photos. Our kids were in complete wonderment of the sights, sounds, and magic of Disneyworld. Little did they know their parents were arriving home each night feeling as if they had just run a half marathon.
It made me think about how I could apply this same momentum to my daily life and business. After careful consideration, I decided that a constant race is not for me. I am motivated and dedicated to keeping my business fresh and exciting, as I am continually creating and offering new aspects of language program. As I recover from my Disney trip, I look forward to going back to work, as I need a ‘vacation from my vacation’.
