Success and Murphy's Law
I choose not to invite misfortune or accompany misery to a pity party. However, bad things happen and are beyond my control. The truth is welcoming success is the easy part but as Murphy's Law states, "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way" along the pathway towards your destiny. Do not be discouraged for it’s all a part of learning to overcome adversity.
Challenges have presented themselves throughout my life and career. My college career almost never began because of financial concerns. I had done fairly well academically in high school but still fell short in trying to cover full tuition in addition to room and board costs. Student loans and the assistance of my parents allowed me to make it through college. After college, it was time to stand out on my own. I decided to move from New Orleans to Seattle. The move allowed me to grow and understand that I was going to learn many lessons that were never covered in my college curriculum. The real world is a harsh place and someone will not always hold your hand and lead you to the right place. The supreme test of my perceived independence was being able to focus under pressure while still moving forward in the midst of the wind blowing against even the best of my intentions.
My career has had its ups and downs as well. After working for 5 years and getting a master's degree I pondered the question of, "Now What?" and I had no clue of where and what my next move would be. I eventually figured out what I wanted to do next but faced another hurdle of having an advanced degree in a particular field in which I had no professional experience. It felt as if the door or window of opportunity would never present itself. However, through several career consultations and determining my transferable skills I was able to land the position I desired.
Murphy's Law comes to visit me in situations from time to time but I never let it deter me from my path to achieving a particular goal. Overall, Success and Murphy's Law sometimes come as a packaged deal but as Og Mandino once said, “Failure will not overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough."

Very interesting post. Sometimes what appears to be failure or something going wrong is actually there to teach us. We can learn and have the opportunity to make different choices.
