Meeting the Mompreneurs®
I had the fabulous opportunity to meet a group of like minded ladies who share a passion for running a business and raising a family at the same time. We all met in Chicago for a weekend conference of networking, business advice, fun, and of course some time off from our crazy lives as work at home moms.
I have ‘met’ these ladies through an online forum called Mompreneursonline.com which is filled with resources and motivation. Our weekend began with the ease of seeing old friends again. We embarked onto our Chicago weekend conference not really knowing each other, but left feeling very connected.
What I took away from meeting the Mompreneurs® was not only the excellent business advice, ideas, and support, but also it reinforced to me the importance of having strong, positive connections. Whether it is family, friends, colleagues, employers or employees, it is so important to have connections and a support system that believes in you and shares your dedication and lifts you up.
As a mom and business owner, it is often hard to find the right spot to fit in. Often my stay at home moms who are not working do not understand why I am not available for a phone chat or play date in the middle of the day. On the other hand, my mom friends that work outside the home may not understand that I am really “working” while my kids are home with me, or why I am working late at night and not available for evening activities. I am so glad to have found a group of women that understand me and that I can network with and share my dreams, successes, concerns, and learn from daily. On this journey I will continue to seek out strong, positive, influential networking groups to lean upon and to learn from.
