Pride of the Pinstripes
If you believe in the mantra, "Dress for success," you're not alone. As I enjoyed a Sunday night baseball game on ESPN a few weeks ago, commentator Joe Morgan mentioned he could have been a NY Yankee for one year of his career. While mentioning he doesn't like to have any regrets, he wishes he could have experienced what it would have felt like to put on the pinstripes. After all, there's something special in that uniform. (Red Sox fans may beg to differ, but still...)
So then I got to thinking and wondering...how true this really is. What's your pinstriped power suit? Or maybe it's not pinstripes at all, maybe it's your power play briefcase that you bring to and from work day in, day out. I think our corporate costumes, if you will, say a lot about our productivity and sometimes they may magically manifest themselves with the weight they bare whether it's an interlocking NY or simply a brand new silk blouse you can't wait to premiere at a big board meeting.
Then of course there's dress down situations, too. Business casual may be loosely defined and well, I always seem to perform my best when I feel sharp and on top of my game. So while each major league team has their own uniform (check that - most have two: one for home and the other for away games), what type of clothing helps you with your A-game?

Be gutsy huh? Need assistance with looking for a new career at 43, LOL, I must sound like everyone else looking in the downtown Manhattan area, sorry ladies, its all getting so depressing! Thankfully, though I am still currently employed, problem is, its in a sales area of a very large insurance company, they really do not care or want to hear the word excuse (yes, these are dismal times, what my co. calls an excuse!) which is why I want to get out of this position. I'm a great admin, and I know you've heard this before , a people person, I really do enjoy helping people, which is why I volunteer with Fisher House. Which is also why I got started in insurance and got my license, joke is on me, I guess! I would really love to go back to working in the downtown area of New York City, just love it, easy communte via public transportation, right know I have a long drive, yes DRIVE! No wonder I am writing a blog today. Please feel free to contact me for a resume. More importantly, thank you for reading! My best to all, Eileen
