The Present is a Gift
I opened my eyes this morning and did not consider the happenings of yesterday. I did not send my mind racing to figure out what I could accomplish tomorrow or in the near future. My hopes and dreams are still alive but I must first welcome the blessing of having another to day to be thankful and enjoy life. The pursuit of happiness and wellness are desires of mine but it is important to acknowledge that the present is a gift.
Today the sun is shining and the weather forecast says it will be one hundred degrees or more. Despite the blazing heat I will not complain because when it rains it pours. No matter what the temperature is I allow my body to adjust to it because just like life it is outside of my control. Lately, I have been slowing down to smell the roses and taking smaller strides so I don’t miss the little things of great value.
I know that no one wants to be complacent and the world is full of possibilities to achieve great things but never forget to treat the present as a daily gift. Relax for awhile and don’t worry about tomorrow and the future that is uncertain. Today the present is here so cherish every hour, second, minute and sacred moment of it.

Today was a perfect day for me to read this post.
I was disappointed in myself for not finishing a project by summer's end as I had planned. I felt rushed and torn between finishing the project or yielding to the pressures of getting my teenagers ready for school. I am happy to report the children's needs came first.
There is always tomorrow and today isn't over!
Thanks.

Today I went to visit Tory Foxall, a dear friend whose father Art Foxall, died on August 25th at 6:45 PM., here in Seattle Washington. We held each other, and I tried to comfort her mother. Tory, Mr. Foxall's only child and the love of his life, is still in shock. She has called his cell phone at least a dozen times since his passing, just to hear his voice. Her grief is deep and will last a life time. I left her and her mother, a prayer in my heart and on my journey home phoned my Dad. When he answered I simply said in the words of Steve Wonder, " I just called to say, I love you!" Yes, Ms Morgan, the present is a gift, no matter what the day brings.

Sometimes we don't realize how good the day is because we are always either stuck in the past or looking towrd the future.
